About Dr. Bergman

Alf Bergman M.D. is a Psychiatrist who specializes in the psychiatric evaluation, complementary therapy approach,  and medical management of an individual who is suffering from mental illness. Dr. Bergman is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
He provides services in Ohio with a primary private practice location in Independence, Ohio.

Originally from Sweden, Dr. Bergman did his training in Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut, where he also served as the Chief Resident and graduated in 2005. He practiced in Maine until 2009 when he took a position with SUMMA Health System in Akron, Ohio. There he supervised Psychiatrist in training as the Medical Director for the Psychiatric Resident Training Clinic, supervised Internal Medicine and Family Practice Physicians in training, taught seminars, provided inpatient and outpatient care, became NEOMED Faculty, and also treated patients at the SUMMA Center for Sexual Health.

In 2013, he joined Parma Community General Hospital and also started Ohio Psychiatry Specialists, LLC providing General Adult Outpatient treatment, Geriatric Outpatient, Psychiatric Consultation, and Geriatric inpatient Treatment (at Parma Community General Hospital). He also provides Psychiatric Services in Assisted Living Facilities, Group Homes, and Nursing Homes. In addition, he performs evaluation and treatment of patients connected to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

He is also the Medical Director at Beacon Health, a Community Mental Health Center, in Mentor Ohio.

He is a frequent speaker on a variety of topics such as Evidence Based Psychiatric Practice, Psychopharmacology, Delirium, Diagnostic considerations & accuracy, as well as other topics upon request.

He continues to serve as a Supervisor and Mentor to other Psychiatrists and Mental Health Professionals.

Dr. Bergman is a dedicated medical professional who provides a range of services, from general care to specialized state of the art treatment.  He is committed providing specialized and individualized service. A comprehensive treatment plan is created in collaboration with each patient.
