Rick Schenkelberg is a Psychiatrist who specializes in evaluation, diagnosis, and management of mental illness in the adult population. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He provides services in Ohio with a primary private practice location in Independence, Ohio.
Dr. Schenkelberg received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, in 2006 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He then earned his Medical Degree in 2010 from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he finished in the top one-third of his class and was awarded the James and Philip Brasington Memorial Prize for outstanding preclinical and clinical performance in Psychiatry. He completed his Residency training in 2014 at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident during his fourth year.
Beginning in 2014, Dr. Schenkelberg practiced in central Illinois, where he treated patients with a wide array of illnesses in multiple settings, including outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization, and nursing home. He also served as Volunteer Faculty at Southern Illinois University Psychiatry Residency Program, leading the ECT rotation.
After working in Illinois for 4 years, Dr. Schenkelberg is excited to return home and serve the population of the Cleveland area. He employs a comprehensive and compassionate treatment approach to each individual patient. He looks forward to collaborating with his patients to achieve their goals.
